Monk's Cherry at Elixir

Monk's Cherry at Elixir

Clock Bar does it again (see last month’s Imbiber) with English Breakfast: Earl Grey–infused 209 gin with orange marmalade and egg white. Frothy, light, yet nuanced, I could easily make this breakfast.

Elixir’s Summer line-up was recently released and it’s heavy on the watermelon with other fresh fruits and herbs making an appearance. While I enjoyed the watermelon/black pepper combo of the Peppermelon, I preferred the aesthetic Monk’s Cherry ($10): Bulleit bourbon, Green Chartreuse, Carpano Antica, muddled Bing cherries and lavender flowers with a garnish of the last two ingredients.

Presidio Social Club transports me with its 1940’s clubhouse feel, comfortable, classy bar and Presidio setting. A recent special worth trying is a classic Scofflaw cocktail using pomegranate grenadine in place of Chartreuse along with rye, dry vermouth and lemon. Here’s the Washington Post’s recipe.
