“People who to love to eat are always the best people.” — Julia Child

Sacramento weekending… and alley “research” at Pre Flight Lounge

Weekend research in Sacramento and Napa, blind judging (for my fourth year) at Good Food Awards and taking in the continued summery September in SF, I now head off to NYC for my usual research in the city that changed my life at age 14 when we moved to the area.

Alongside the print issue of Time Out Magazine, in my Time Out column, my hit list for the week includes an SF restaurant great celebrating 20 years, a stellar salmon dish, superb wines from Burgundy that are finally in the US, Trick Dog’s chef pop-up series and a recommended harvest party in Napa, all here. I also cover top four low-proof bars that are not cocktail-centric (think sherry, vermouth, natural wines) here.

At Liquor.com, I share some of the best bourbon drinks in restaurants/bars around the country now; talk about 8 American whiskies you might not know about; and my top 11 cocktails/bars around the US for the month of September.
