It started last week with a whirlwind couple days in Las Vegas for the US finals of the prestigious world chef competition, Bocuse d’Or, held at The Venetian.

I was proud (and not surprised) that two of the three US finalists were from my hometown of SF. One, Matthew Kirkley of SF’s 3 Michelin-starred Coi, won and will go on to represent the US in the international finals in Lyon, France, in 2019.

I am now in my beloved New Orleans all week for my annual research trip to catch up on the latest food and drink and return to old favorites… it’s stellar live music at tiny jazz clubs each night and blissfully-gained pounds in one of my favorite cities on earth.
