“… Nothing is said of the closeness between two people: how they grew in the shade of each other’s presence. No one speaks of that exchange of gift and character — the way a person took on and recognized in himself the smile of a lover.” — Running in the Family by Michael Ondaatje

Hello, friends …

Yes, it’s a Jenga tower of tater tots at The Saratoga

This week, I just wrapped a 6th wonderfully intensive year of blind judging over 1000 small batch/craft spirits with 40 peers, some of the best in spirits/drink from around the world. ADI will announce the double gold, gold, silver and bronze medal winners we awarded blind at their upcoming craft spirits conference late March in Portland, OR.

I spend the rest of February on research trips in Vancouver and Nashville. I’m coming (back) for you both! But looking ahead…

Come join me in Peru! The deadline is mid-March to sign up for a culinary adventure in the Andes mountains’ town of Cusco (gateway to Machu Picchu), savoring the unique Asia-meets-South-America cuisine that is Peruvian food. I will be the host of a “dig deep” food tour this May, open to anyone, so please join us for what will be an unforgettable week. Details here at Adios Adventure Travel (more on my past food and pisco-making adventures in Peru here).

Check out the latest in my weekly Time Out, Liquor.com and WineAccess columns.
